Why go to a Doctor at a Cosmetic Medical Clinic?
- Safety - safe, clean, hygenic medical environment with proper patient hygiene (as mandated by Queensland Health Department)
- Minimise Risk - Emergency medical equipment and drugs on site in the unforeseen case of an adverse reaction to the drug or treatment.
- Queensland Law - Requires all muscle relaxant and skin filler injections to be administered by a DOCTOR or by a Registered Nurse under DIRECT SUPERVISION by a Doctor.
- Informed Consent - a good quality Cosmetic Medical Clinic will provide a comprehensive list of potential risks and adverse reactions possible to ensure the client fully understands the possible risks before having any treatment.
- Medical History checked - Any medical conditions or medications (including alternative health and vitamin products) are thoroughly checked before a client is considered suitable for any procedure - this is for your safety!
- Cosmetic Physician or Plastic/Cosmetic Physician - Check that they have been trained in how to do Cosmetic procedures and performed the procedure many times before you get any treatment. Some GP's inject muscle relaxants as rarely as once every few months which does not ensure they are updated with the latest standards of treatment and they have the depth of experience as compared to a doctor who has injected hundreds of patients on a daily basis for a number of years.
- Laser - Laser treatment in Queensland requires the person performing the laser has a current Queensland Radiation Health User Licence and Safety Certificate - ensure these are displayed in the clinic or ask to see them.
- Botox Parties or Bars - it is not legal or safe to inject after intake of alcohol (you cannot be deemed to have given full informed consent after drinking or consumption of recreational drugs), patient privacy is often compromised, botox bars do not have medical safety equipment and it may not be a doctor doing the injecting.
- Drugs may be watered down or replaced with cheaper alternatives bought over the internet with questionable quality, content and safety (as happened in a recent Court case in Cairns when a Nurse was illegally importing and injecting an unproven "alternative" to botox).
